Virchow2 is a state-of-the-art AI foundation model developed by Paige in collaboration with Microsoft Research. The model includes more than 40 tissue types stained with hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) and various immunohistochemistry (IHC) stains, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of applications in computational pathology. With 632 million parameters, Virchow2 is optimized for high-precision cancer detection and diagnosis, including rare cancer variants and precancerous lesions. It serves as the foundation for applications like Paige PanCancer Detect, which assists pathologists in identifying cancer across multiple tissue types, and PRISM2, a multimodal AI model that integrates whole-slide images with clinical language to generate diagnostic insights and reports. Virchow2 is available under the Apache 2.0 License for research use and through commercial licensing options for clinical applications.
