StoneChecker is a semi-automated software developed by Imaging Biometrics, designed to provide clinicians with detailed metrics about kidney stones from non-contrast CT scans. Utilizing the TexRAD algorithm, it assesses various physical attributes of renal stones, including volume, mean Hounsfield unit (HU) density, skin-to-stone distance, entropy, kurtosis, and skewness. These metrics have been shown to predict stone-free rates and outcomes of lithotripsy procedures. The software has been available for research use since 2017 and received FDA clearance for marketing in the USA in September 2019. It is also available for commercial use in the European Union and South Korea. StoneChecker has been validated in studies, demonstrating its ability to predict the ease of stone fragmentation during shockwave lithotripsy. The software integrates seamlessly into clinical workflows, providing rapid and accurate assessments to aid in patient management.
