Summary
DrFirst's Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA) streamlines the medication approval process, reducing administrative burdens and accelerating patient access to necessary treatments.
Description
DrFirst's Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA) automates the traditionally manual prior authorization process, integrating with prescriber workflows and EHRs to check benefits in real-time, determine PA requirements, submit requests, and track statuses. This system utilizes patient insurance data, payer policies, and clinical documentation to minimize errors, denials, and delays, aiming to expedite therapy access, reduce administrative workload, and enhance patient experience by preventing unnecessary delays. The ePA solution is embedded within DrFirst's e-prescribing platforms, including Rcopia and RcopiaMU, and is integrated into over 300 EHR, EMR, and HIS systems, facilitating seamless prior authorization management. Additionally, DrFirst's acquisition of Myndshft Technologies in April 2024 has enhanced its ePA capabilities, enabling support for both medical and pharmacy benefits through AI, machine learning, and robotic process automation, further improving transparency and efficiency in the prior authorization process. The ePA solution is also integrated with MEDITECH Expanse, providing real-time benefit checks and electronic prior authorization directly within the clinical workflow, thereby enhancing cost transparency and supporting patient adherence. DrFirst's ePA solution has processed over six million benefit and pricing inquiries, demonstrating its widespread adoption and effectiveness in improving medication access and adherence. The company continues to expand its ePA capabilities to support a broader range of medications and insurance plans, aiming to further reduce administrative burdens and improve patient outcomes.

User Reviews
- They think they know how prescriptions are written. The server is fast. It has potential but it is a very immature product.
- Very poor in terms of efficiency and reliability. It is secure and keeps current Rx list up to date.
- Be cautious of this software despite its grandiose claims. When it works -- which is not often -- it works.
- Worst customer service. No phone service: will not speak only chat. I did not know how to do the stuff I needed to fix my problem. Waited more than a week to get help with iPrescribe. Switched to MD TOOLBOX and love it. Never going back.
- This has been the most time-consuming horrible tedious process I’ve ever done. There is no phone number to call. I get random emails from support early in the morning when I’m still asleep. After two months of trying to set this up, it’s still not working!
- Absolutely nothing has been positive about my experience. This system has been the worst thing I’ve ever worked with in healthcare. It’s been two months and I still don’t have my EPCS set up to prescribe controlled substances. I’ve literally given up.
- Frustrating as due to trying to find support through DrFirst to help with re-install ID.me authenticator app and had to use the darn CHAT (for tech support?!); DrFirst NO LONGER provide phone support; without it, it's VERY INEFFICIENT; gonna look into other vendors that have PHONE SUPPORT. If there is an urgent matter, like need to get a prescription out, you're SOL.
- Literally ......no customer service. Onboarding 6 years ago was fine. Attentive to what I needed, now it's horrible. I have been with this company for a while and they used to have good service, but it appears that their customer service no longer exists via phone. Virtual assistants are rude and unable to assist or connect you with a supervisor or manager. On hold now for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Email option just sends you an email that they received it but it all stops there. I cannot send any scripts today and will invest time in finding a new company. They claim that they don't have my email info but the invoice which I paid in full has all my updated information. DON'T DO IT! NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.
- Worst EMR System to date. Terrible. Second time trying after several months to get this going. Going on day 4 and nothing but headaches.
- Laborious, time-consuming, inefficient. Printing is still best. Pharmacies haven't adopted eRx enough yet to make this efficient. We receive too many calls back from patients where pharmacies haven't received the eRx or the pharmacy doesn't accept eRx (even though the Surescripts database provided to DrFirst indicates the pharmacy is accepting).
